A Supply Chain Planner is required to join a leading global biopharmaceutical in Waterford. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping the supply chain planning for this start-up site.

The Supply Chain Planner will be responsible for Site planning activities for the Waterford manufacturing site including the development of planning processes and supporting systems. This is an important role for a start-up site as work processes need to be built from the bottom up while the Planner works with technical personnel to source supply of materials and services required to support plant qualification, Tech Transfer to launch and commercialisation.

The Role

  • Participate by taking a lead role at site planning meetings and liaise directly with all groups involved in the manufacturing process - e.g. Operations, QC, QA, & Tech Services as appropriate to resolve operational issues as they arise.
  • Establish manufacturing requirements and monitor adherence to schedule reporting variances in a timely and business appropriate manner.
  • Provide guidance to R&D during product development projects on manufacturing facility supply chain requirements for best cost/lead time in a commercial environment.
  • Plan and implement activities related to the timely cost-effective inventory control, planning and quality control of production and R&D materials.
  • Process orders as per the current department procedures and issue order confirmations detailing expected delivery dates.
  • Provide business updates on agreed formats and frequencies while ensuring accurate and prompt responsiveness to inquiries.
  • Collate forecasting data on a monthly basis from customers (internal / external) and present clear and consolidated demand picture to the wider business.
  • Ensure all work carried out, complies with the required standards, conforming to company, cGMP, cGLP, SOP’s and regulatory guidelines.

The Person
  • Degree or 3rd level qualification (Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain).
  • 10+ professional Purchasing or Planning experience in a multinational Life Science manufacturing organisation (BioPharmceutical experience is preferred)
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, monitoring vendor performance and improving this performance
  • Ideally, experience working in a start-up environment and therefore in establishing supply chain planning processes.
  • Experienced in dealing with multi-site relationships and interactions with a high level of orientation/understanding.
