A newly created position has arisen for Head of International Trade to join a leading global manufacturing business in Ireland

Role Summary

The position will provide external insight, leadership and subject matter expertise across critical domain areas such as customs, tariffs, EU and non-EU markets/regulations. The role holder will be responsible for working with a broad range of business stakeholders to ensure that international trade changes and potential impacts to operations are mitigated as effectively as possible throughout the end to end supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the business’ strategy and goals are fully informed by and optimally aligned with all aspects of the international trade environment, including mitigation for change and planning for future considerations.
  • Devise and execute specific international trade plans, which optimise the overall global footprint and end to end supply chain structure
  • Support in the optimising of overall global raw materials and finished goods network through providing actionable international trade insights.
  • Leveraging best practice, support relevant leadership in the execution of overall logistics and distribution approach in order to provide solutions that can evolve at pace to reflect external market conditions and in line with the required agility to meet business needs.
  • Provide input to, lead out and drive implementation of the Brexit Readiness Plan from an overall Supply Chain perspective.
  • Liaise continually and proactively with key functional stakeholders e.g. Procurement, Supply Chain and Regulatory etc. in order to assess strengths and weaknesses in achieving an optimal international trading network and co-create plans to address as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Degree Qualified at minimum (2.1 or above) in Business, Mathematics, Economics or similar
  • 10 – 15 years’ experience within comparable functional environment
  • Deep insight of complex import and export issues with experience in developing and executing effective import and export programmes
  • Extensive knowledge of international trade and customs regimes
  • Proven experience in strategic planning (with experience in the food/ingredients sector a distinct advantage)
  • Excellent skills in leading change, strong programme management & ability to build a consensus around action through effective impact & influence of direct and indirect teams
